Tallis, Dragon Age II

The daggers were carved from wood. The belt buckle, shoulder clasps and choker jewel were made all from worbla. The boot covers were made from oil tan leather and covered with antique brass spots. Lastly, the hood was made from faux suede.I had a few issues with this costume the first time I wore it. The chest piece was tremendously uncomfortable. I actually ended up bruising my ribcage. I have since discovered pig leather, which is much softer and can still be carved. I remade the back piece and then the costume was much more tolerable and yay no bruises.
The thigh pieces kept sliding down. I knew they would, but not to the degree that they did. I had to walk the entire parade holding them up. I added a hidden strap that connects it to the belt to hold them up better, which worked fantastically. Sometimes, you have to wear a costume before you know what to fix on it, but once I worked out all the kinks, it was easy to wear.
I was fortunate enough to meet David Gaider, the then head writer for the Dragon Age series, and even got his signature on the pouch. I met a lot of new people in this costume and I always had fun wearing it. However, I never would have been able to pull it all off without a pair of Aradani elf ears to complete the whole thing. 🙂
