  New Developments

1/28/2009

We just got home from Chattacon where Michael and I were the Artist Guests of Honor. It was always fun, and being the guests was a real treat. It makes me want to work all that much harder to make bigger and better artwork to open up more opportunities to be a guest at a convention. Of course, isn't that what everyone wants? That is like stating, "I want to win the lottery." I guess one is pure luck, and one involves a level of skill. But anyway, for Chattacon, I finished a few new pieces, Modern Magic 2.0, Technorganic, and What a Daikini Wants. I will try and post the latter two as soon as I can.

So a few months ago I learned that It's ALIVE! has been nominated for a Chesley for 2007. The winners were supposed to be announced in October, but thus far we haven't heard anything. I will keep everyone posted.

AN UPDATE! I know that it has been over a year since I have updated this news feed. I just felt that not many people were reading these posts, so there wasn't a real reason to post them. Instead I felt I should use that time to make new art. If I am mistaken, and people are interested in reading these posts, please send me an email and let me know that I should be posting more often. AND I WILL!!

It apparently is always quite some time between postings here on my site. I know that is boring for you, but I guess that means that I am quite busy with other projects and such. Mike and I are currently working on the GA Ren Faire and about to start working the TN Faire as well. I wanted to post one of my latest pieces up on my site though. Jason Sizemore of Apex Digest asked me to post a link to the cover that I did for Issue 9, and so here it is.

It's ALIVE

9/13/2006

It has been quite some time since I have posted, which is sad actually, considering I have the most exciting news of the year for me.  Mike and I went out to Los Angeles for WorldCon, and I WON A CHESLEY!

Well, I didn't win.  My piece, Nightmare, won for best Monochrome Unpublished, and I had to go up and accept the award for my piece of art.  I really should have had this up here sooner, but after WorldCon, Mike and I had 2 days before Dragon*Con, then we had to head up to start working the Ohio Renaissance Festival.  But everything is now back to a more normal schedule.

Dragon*Con was quite fun.  Mike and I roomed with Camacho, who as always was there to help out and save our butts when the going got tough.  And our friend Juli was saving our butts in Ohio.  Just like GenCon, we owe so much to those two kids.  Mike and I got invited by some Hypericon friends to an exclusive room party.  At first it didn't seem all that special, until a gentleman came to the bouncer and told him that "Mr. Daniels," as in Anthony C3PO Daniels, would not be able to attend.  That was the first sign.  And the second sign would be later in the night when Mike and I returned and got to hang out with two actors from Battlestar Galactica, Ray Parks (Darth Maul and Toad), and a few other famous people.

Phew, this post just keeps going.  We also learned that since we are published, that we will get to be guests next year at Dragon*Con.  That is absurd, and AWESOME.

And one last final thing.  WE ARE PUBLISHED!  If you happen into a bookstore that is geeky enough to carry the DragonLance RPG books, look for Knightly Orders of Ansalon.  Keep an eye out, we have another 2 books yet to be published, and we have some new exciting projects upcoming this winter.

I have seen some of you guys at Hypericon this past weekend, and I am getting ready for the Great Lakes Medieval Faire.  I thought I would come on here and update my site with the newest piece.  I finished it in Wyoming when I was out there studying with a fellow artist.  I am very happy with it.  And it got posted to both Epilogue and Elf Wood in under 24 hours which is insane.  I have never had pieces do that so quickly.  A link to the new piece is down below, so check it out please.
