So I began working on my new Link costume for Dragon*Con. The fabric arrived on Monday, though with GenCon this week, we didn’t even get a chance to open it. I did however complete my first piece of the costume, Link’s bracelet. Don’t know if they have given a name to the bracelet that allows him to turn into a drawing, so I’ll just call it Link’s Bracelet.
I am glad that I waited a bit to make the bracelet, since they changed the concept art, and the color of the bracelet’s jewel. Here is the original concept.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the 2 bracelet designs.
I found a few different bracelets, but none were quite right. Until I found this auction on eBay. I guessed that I could peel off the ribbon, and it did!
Starting with this (above), I made this (below). I used a gem that I popped off of a bracelet from Kohl’s, 5 minute epoxy, Magic Sculpt (to make the eye outline), and finally Gold Testor’s Enamel Paint. It was pretty easy, but I think looks pretty close to the concept art!
I am so excited about this new Link costume. And even more excited to be able to play The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on my Nintendo 3DS in November. Wow, that was a name drop, lol.
